Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi
Wake up early and enjoy a strong breakfast at your lodge before heading to the park offices. Arrive at the briefing point by 7:30 am to join other trekkers for the safety talk and group assignment. Rangers will explain the rules and share tips to keep you safe during the gorilla visit. Groups are formed based on fitness level and gorilla family location within the forest. After the briefing, follow your ranger into the thick forest to begin the trek. Walk slowly while listening for gorilla sounds and looking out for nests and dung. The trek may last two to six hours depending on how far the gorillas moved that day. Once you find the gorillas, spend one hour watching them as they feed, rest, or groom each other. Cross the border into Rwanda and continue through the green hills back to Kigali. Stop for photos or short breaks if time allows. You will arrive in Kigali in the early afternoon depending on traffic and road conditions. Your driver will drop you off at your hotel, airport, or preferred location in Kigali.
