3 Day Bwindi double gorilla trek through Kigali is the exclusive experience designed specifically for individuals who are eager to explore the magnificent mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park through Rwanda (Kigali). Not only does this tour cater to your desire to trek gorillas, but it also offers the unique opportunity to embark on two gorilla treks. This allows you to compare different mountain gorilla families or spend more time with these incredible creatures on separate days. Additionally, this itinerary is ideal for those who wish to trek Uganda gorillas but prefer to minimize travel time by flying into Kigali instead of Entebbe International Airport.
On Day 1, your adventure kicks off as you’ll be picked up from Kigali International Airport or any hotel in Kigali. Your destination is Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, known for its gorilla habituation experience. The drive is about 4-5 hours, taking you through the picturesque landscapes of a country often referred to as the “Pearl of Africa.” The journey involves crossing into Uganda at either Katuna or Chanika border. Along the way, there’s a stop at Kabale town (Katuna) or Kisoro (Chanika) before reaching Bwindi.
Drive Time: Approximately 4-5 hours
Meal Plan: Lunch and Dinner
Lodging: Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge or Mahogany Springs.
Day 2 starts with an early morning breakfast at your lodge before heading to the park headquarters. Packed lunch in tow, there’s a mandatory briefing about the rules for the trek. The search for the “Gentle Giants” can be a 1-7 hour hike, depending on the gorillas’ movements. Encountering them in their natural habitat is a thrilling experience that makes the trek worthwhile. You get 60 minutes (maximum) to observe, take photos, and enjoy the gorillas’ activities. A descent back to the lodge follows for lunch. If energy permits in the evening, there’s an option for a nature walk or a visit to local communities. Other options include exploring the Munyanja river trail or the Muzabajiro/Ruhija trails. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Lodging: Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge or Mahogany Springs.
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.
On the final day, after breakfast, you have the option to embark on a second Gorilla trek before departing for Rwanda. This allows you to make the most of your time, especially if you have a late flight. The adventure concludes as you head back to Kigali Airport to end your tour.
These three days promise an unforgettable journey, filled with nature, wildlife, and the awe-inspiring experience of being in the presence of mountain gorillas.
