  Day 1: Arrival in Kigali – Rwanda

  Upon your arrival at the airport, you will be warmly welcomed and then transferred to your accommodation in the vibrant city of Kigali and its scenic surroundings.

  Day 2: Journey to Bukavu – DR Congo

  In the morning, you’ll be picked up from your Kigali hotel. Your journey will take you southwards towards the Cyangugu border, en route to Bukavu in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Along the way, you’ll have the opportunity to stop in Butare to visit the National Museum of Rwanda, the historic King’s Palace in Nyanza, and the poignant Rwanda Genocide Memorial Site. After a satisfying lunch, your scenic drive to Bukavu will lead you through the lush tropical forests of Nyungwe and offer breathtaking views of Lake Kivu.

  Day 3: Lowland Gorilla Tracking in Kahuzi Biega – DR Congo

  You will embark on an unforgettable adventure as you track the captivating lowland gorillas in Kahuzi Biega National Park. Unlike their mountain counterparts, these lowland gorillas are notably larger in size. The tracking experience, lasting about 1-3 hours, will reward you with an awe-inspiring encounter with these majestic creatures. Their larger family groups are a unique feature of the lowland gorillas. After the tracking, enjoy a nature walk in Kahuzi Biega Park, visit Tshibati Waterfalls, explore Bukavu town, discover Mbayo tea plantations, the research center, and the local traditional homes. Return to your accommodation for dinner and a restful night.

  Day 4: Transfer to Bukima in Congo

  An early start as your driver picks you up from your Kigali accommodation or the airport. Your journey takes you to Bukima in Congo, a 4-hour drive with a lunch stop in the town of Goma. After lunch, continue your drive to Bukima, where you’ll spend the night surrounded by the stunning landscape.

  Day 5: Mountain Gorilla Trekking in Virunga National Park

  Following an early breakfast, head to the Park Headquarters for a comprehensive briefing before joining the other trekkers. Your adventure into the Virunga forest begins as you embark on the gorilla trek. The trek’s duration varies, ranging from 30 minutes to 7 hours, depending on the gorilla family’s location. Upon encountering the gorillas, you’ll have a remarkable hour to observe their behaviors, capture photographs, and immerse yourself in the experience. After this captivating encounter, return to the Park Headquarters to conclude the trek.

  Day 6: Departure from Kigali International Airport

  On this final day, you’ll drive back to Kigali. En route, you’ll have the opportunity to visit the Genocide Museum, explore Kigali’s local markets, shop for souvenirs, or simply relax. The journey culminates with your drop-off at the airport or your post-tour accommodation, marking the end of your remarkable journey.
