Arrive at Entebbe International Airport in Uganda. A friendly guide will welcome you warmly. Then, transfer to your lodge in Entebbe. Entebbe rests on the shores of Lake Victoria and offers a calm, green setting. After check-in, relax and enjoy the views of Africa’s largest freshwater lake. In the evening, have dinner and rest from your journey.

After breakfast, meet your guide for a short briefing. Then begin the journey to Kibale Forest. Enjoy scenic views of villages, tea plantations, and crater lakes along the way. Stop in Fort Portal, a town near the Rwenzori Mountains. Continue to Kibale National Park, known for its rich primate population. After lunch, take a guided walk in Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary. The walk supports local conservation and offers chances to spot monkeys and birds.

Enjoy an evening game drive. Spot elephants, buffaloes, warthogs, antelopes, and maybe even lions. Watch the sun set over the vast savannah as wildlife grazes nearby.

Spend the afternoon relaxing at the lodge or join another short game drive.

Have breakfast and transfer to the airstrip for a short flight to Kisoro. Upon arrival, meet your guide and drive to Mount Gahinga Lodge. The lodge sits at the foot of three extinct volcanoes, offering breathtaking views. The setting is peaceful, with gardens and forest trails. Later, visit the Batwa heritage site at the lodge. See their traditional huts and learn about their forest life. The Batwa were forest dwellers before the park was created. Their stories and music offer insight into their unique culture.

After an early breakfast, drive to the park headquarters. Join other visitors for a gorilla trekking briefing. Then begin your walk into the forest with ranger guides. Hike along slopes and through dense vegetation, following signs of gorilla movement. Once you find the gorillas, spend an hour watching them. Take in their size, calm nature, and family bonds. This close encounter ranks among the best wildlife moments anywhere. Return to the lodge later for rest and reflection.

Today offers a chance to track another rare primate. After breakfast, head back into Mgahinga for golden monkey tracking. These playful monkeys have striking golden-orange fur and live in bamboo forests. Though fast-moving, they offer great viewing when located. Spend time following and observing them. Capture photos as they jump from tree to tree. In the afternoon, relax or explore the surrounding area.

Say goodbye to Uganda after breakfast. Drive to the Cyanika border and cross into Rwanda. Continue through the rolling hills to Volcanoes National Park. Check into your lodge and enjoy the cool mountain air. Spend the afternoon at leisure. Enjoy views of the Virunga Volcanoes while preparing for another gorilla trek.

On this day, explore more of the forest with a guided hike to Dian Fossey’s grave. The trail leads to the site of her former Karisoke Research Center. Appreciate her lasting legacy in mountain gorilla conservation. Later, return to the lodge for relaxation.

After breakfast, leave Volcanoes National Park and head to Kigali, Rwanda’s capital. Stop at Hôtel des Mille Collines for lunch. This hotel gained fame for sheltering people during the 1994 genocide.
Later, visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial. Learn about the tragic events and honor the lives lost. The museum gives powerful insight into Rwanda’s past and recovery. End the day with a comfortable night in the city.
