The forest walk may take between two to six hours based on the location of the gorillas. The trail winds through tall bamboo trees, thick bushes, and moss-covered paths. You can take photos, watch the young ones play, and see the adults feed or rest.
After the trek, you will return to the starting point to meet your driver-guide again. You will drive west to Lake Kivu, a peaceful lake along the border of Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The drive from Volcanoes National Park to Lake Kivu in Gisenyi takes about one and a half hours.
