Best Time to visit Bwindi

While Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is open all year, the best time to visit is during the dry seasons, from December to February and June to September. Get Your Gorilla Trekking Permit

Permits cost $800 for foreign visitors. But there are discounts for different groups:

Age Requirement:

You have to be at least 15 years old to go gorilla trekking.

Gorilla Habituation Experience:

If you want an even longer and more special experience, you can do the Gorilla Habituation Experience. It costs $1,500, and you get to spend four hours watching gorillas with researchers.

How to Get to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park has four parts: Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga, and Nkuringo. Each part has its own way in. Plan how you’ll get there based on your ticket. The parts are far from each other. Sometimes, you need a special car if it’s raining a lot.

From Other Parks

If you’re coming from Queen Elizabeth National Park, Buhoma is the easiest to get to. It takes 3-6 hours by car, depending on where you start. If you’re coming from Lake Mburo National Park, it takes 5-7 hours to get to Bwindi.

From Kampala/Entebbe

If you’re driving from Kampala, it’s about 10-11 hours. But the last part of the road is bumpy and not smooth. You can also fly into Entebbe International Airport. Then, you can take a smaller plane to Kihihi or Kisoro. From there, it’s about a 1.5-hour drive to Bwindi on a bumpy road.
