DAY 1: Exploring UWEC and Entebbe Botanical Gardens
Kickstart your birding adventure by immersing yourself in the rich biodiversity of Uganda. Your first stop is the Uganda Wildlife Education Center (UWEC), home to a plethora of captive animals and over 170 bird species. Keep an eye out for unique species such as the Northern Masked Weaver and Orange Weaver, along with Kingfishers and Sunbirds.
In the afternoon, venture to the Entebbe Botanical Gardens for more birding opportunities. With over 250 bird species, including the Bare-faced Go-away bird and Scarlet-chested Sunbird, these gardens offer a haven for birdwatchers. The highlight of the day awaits as you search for the elusive Shoebill Stork, a rare sighting that Mabamba is celebrated for.
As you explore the wetland by canoe, be on the lookout for other avian treasures including the Allen’s Gallinule and Grey Herons. With luck, you might even catch a glimpse of the Sitatunga Antelope, a creature adapted to swampy habitats.
