If you travel between July and October, you also get the chance to witness the Great Migration in Maasai Mara, one of nature’s most spectacular events.

The Cost of this Safari

The price of this trip changes depending on the season you pick. Each rate covers two people sharing mid-range rooms at Sarova Woodlands in Lake Nakuru and Sentrim Mara Lodge in the Maasai Mara, along with transport for the whole trip.

If you travel during the low season, from January to June, you pay USD 1,480 per person. During the peak season, from July to December, the price goes up to USD 1,780 per person. When your group gets bigger, the cost per person goes down, so traveling with friends or family helps everyone save money.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi to Lake Nakuru National Park

Your trip starts at 08:00 AM when we pick you up from Nairobi. From there, you drive down the dramatic escarpment of the Great Rift Valley, taking in views along the way. You reach Lake Nakuru National Park in time to check in, settle into your room, and enjoy a fresh lunch at the lodge. At 03:30 PM, you head out for an afternoon game drive along the lake shores, known for vibrant birdlife and its role as a wildlife sanctuary. Watch closely for endangered black and white rhinos, rare Rothschild’s giraffes, and elusive leopards before you return to the lodge for dinner and your first night’s stay.

Day 2: Lake Nakuru to Maasai Mara National Reserve

After an early breakfast, you leave Lake Nakuru and begin a scenic drive across the Rift Valley floor. Along the way, you pass through small towns and rural landscapes as you head toward Kenya’s top wildlife destination. You arrive at the Maasai Mara in time to check into your camp or lodge and enjoy a fresh lunch. Then, at 03:30 PM, you set out for your first afternoon game drive across the famous savanna. Here, you catch your first views of the endless plains while searching for the legendary Big Five, before heading back for dinner and an evening around the campfire.

Day 3: Full Day Game Drive in the Maasai Mara

This day is fully dedicated to exploring the reserve, so you get the best wildlife viewing possible. You set out early after breakfast, or with a picnic breakfast, so you can catch predators while they are still active in the cool morning air. As the day goes on, you track large herds of plains game and follow prides of lions, cheetahs, and leopards. At midday, your guide sets up a scenic picnic lunch at a safe spot, often under an acacia tree or near the Mara River. In the afternoon, you explore different habitats within the reserve before heading back to the lodge for a relaxed evening and dinner.

Day 4: Maasai Mara to Nairobi

On your last day, you enjoy a relaxed morning in the heart of the African bush. Start with a leisurely breakfast at the camp while soaking in the final views of the wilderness around you. Afterward, you check out and begin the drive back to the capital. You arrive in Nairobi around 02:30 PM, where we drop you off at your hotel, residence, or the airport so you can continue your onward travel.

What this Safari Cost Includes

This package covers round-trip private transport from Nairobi through Lake Nakuru and the Maasai Mara in a customized 4×4 safari Land Cruiser with a pop-up roof. This includes fuel, highway tolls, and driver allowances. You also get three nights at premium safari lodges or tented camps.

For meals, you receive a full board plan that starts with lunch on Day 1 and ends with breakfast on Day 4. On Day 3, you get a freshly prepared picnic lunch box for the full-day safari. Throughout your trip, complimentary bottled mineral water is provided in the vehicle and during game drives.

Your safari also includes a professional, certified, English-speaking local guide, along with fuel allowances and unlimited mileage for all scheduled game drives. On top of this, the package covers all government taxes, value-added taxes, vehicle entry fees, and daily conservation and park entrance fees for both Lake Nakuru National Park and the Maasai Mara National Reserve.

What this Safari Cost Excludes

This package does not cover international flights to and from Kenya, passport processing fees, or Kenyan electronic travel authorization (eTA) fees. It also leaves out optional activities like hot air balloon safaris over the Mara plains and guided Maasai cultural village visits.

Premium drinks such as alcoholic beverages, sodas, and specialty coffees or teas at the lodges are not included unless your chosen accommodation states otherwise. Personal expenses like room service, laundry, souvenirs, and phone calls are also excluded, along with tips for your driver-guide and lodge staff. Lastly, this package does not include travel, medical, or baggage insurance, so you should arrange this separately before your trip.
