Best Fishing Spots in Uganda

Murchison Falls National Park

Murchison Falls National Park is located in the northwestern part of Uganda, about six hours from the capital city, Kampala. Spot fishing here is mainly done at the base of the Murchison Falls. There are two major spots for fishing near Karuma Falls at Chobe Lodge and below the Murchison Falls.

Fishing at the falls is possible throughout the year, but the best time to catch fish is from January to April. The most commonly caught fish species include catfish and Nile perch. Lake Victoria

Lake Victoria, the largest water body in Uganda and the second largest freshwater body globally, is shared by three countries: Tanzania, Uganda, and Kenya. It receives water from River Kagera. The best time for spot fishing here is from October to March when fish species are abundant, although it’s possible all year round.
