After a warm welcome, you will embark on a scenic drive to Ruhengeri, a town located near the famous Volcanoes National Park. Upon arrival at your hotel, you will receive a safari briefing to prepare for the exciting days ahead. Enjoy a delicious dinner and relax overnight at Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge, a luxurious lodge with stunning views of the surrounding volcanoes.
After an early breakfast or a picnic breakfast, depart for the Volcanoes National Park. You will arrive at the park offices by 7:00 AM, where the park rangers will give a briefing about the golden monkeys and the trekking process. The golden monkeys are playful and energetic, and you will have the chance to observe them in their natural habitat as they swing through the bamboo trees. After the trekking adventure, enjoy lunch at Mountain Gorillas Nest, a comfortable lodge near the park.
In the afternoon, take a short drive to a nearby sacred forest, where ancient kings used to perform their rituals. It’s a fascinating cultural experience, offering insight into Rwanda’s royal history. Return to Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
After an early breakfast, head to the park offices once again by 7:00 AM for your much-anticipated gorilla trekking adventure. You will be assigned to a gorilla family, and the park rangers will give you a briefing before setting off on the trek. The forest can be dense, but the effort will be rewarded when you encounter the gentle giants. You will spend a magical hour with the gorillas, observing their behavior and seeing them interact in the wild.
After the trek, enjoy a relaxing lunch at Mountain Gorillas Nest. In the afternoon, take a scenic drive through the rolling hills of Rwanda to the twin lakes of Ruhondo and Burera. These stunning lakes are surrounded by lush hills and offer a peaceful retreat from the excitement of the trek. Return to Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
On the fourth day, you will have the chance for a second gorilla trek. This gives you the opportunity to visit a different gorilla family and have another unforgettable experience with these magnificent creatures. After the trek, enjoy lunch at Mountain Gorillas Nest.
In the afternoon, begin your drive back to Kigali, Rwanda’s vibrant capital. Once you arrive in Kigali, enjoy a delicious dinner at a local restaurant before checking into Kigali Serena Hotel for your overnight stay.
After breakfast at your hotel, embark on a tour of Kigali. Begin with a visit to the Genocide Memorial Museum, which offers a powerful and emotional look at Rwanda’s tragic history. It’s an important place to understand the country’s resilience and the events of 1994.
Next, visit the Hand Crafts Center, where you can purchase traditional Rwandan crafts and souvenirs. The center supports local artisans and provides a great opportunity to bring home a unique piece of Rwanda’s culture.
