Currently, the cost of a gorilla trekking permit for Mgahinga National Park is $800 per person for foreign nonresidents, $700 for foreign residents, and 300000 shs for East African residents. The gorilla permit cost covers ranger guide fees, park entrance fees, conservation efforts for the mountain gorillas, security, one hour spent with the mountain gorillas, a certificate upon completing the trek, government taxes, and support for the local community.
