This 7 Day adventure offers a unique gorilla trekking and wildlife safari experiences in Uganda and Rwanda, focusing on gorilla trekking in the renowned Volcanoes National Park. Led by a private guide and traveling in a private 4WD vehicle, you’ll have the opportunity to track agile golden monkeys and the famous mountain gorillas, as well as explore the diverse wildlife in Queen Elizabeth and Lake Mburo National Parks. Day 1: Arrival in Kigali – Volcanoes National Park
Upon arrival at Kigali Airport, you’ll be warmly greeted by our company representative. Whether you’re arriving from an international flight or another African safari, we’ll be there to welcome you. Departing from the bustling capital, we’ll embark on a scenic 2.5-hour drive northwest towards Volcanoes National Park. This park holds significant historical importance as the site of Dian Fossey’s pioneering research on mountain gorillas. Nestled amidst lush hills, our accommodation for the next two nights will be at the Gorilla Mountain View Lodge, offering comfortable lodgings and a serene garden setting. Tonight, you’ll rest at Kinigi Guest House or a similar accommodation.
Day 2: Golden Monkey Tracking – Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Start your day early with an exhilarating journey to track the agile golden monkeys. These endangered primates inhabit the bamboo thickets on the lower slopes of the mountains, offering a thrilling encounter in their natural habitat. Following this unique experience, we’ll ascend higher into the mountains, bidding farewell to Volcanoes National Park as we drive towards Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Our overnight stay will be at the Golden Monkey Guest House or a similar budget-friendly accommodation.
Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Prepare for an unforgettable day as we embark on the highlight of our journey – tracking endangered mountain gorillas. Spending up to an hour in their presence, you’ll witness the intricate social dynamics of these remarkable creatures, sharing 97.7% of our DNA. As you observe mothers nurturing their infants and playful toddlers under the watchful eye of the silverback, you’ll be struck by the profound connection between humans and primates. Tonight, we’ll return to the Golden Monkey Guest House for another restful evening.
Day 4: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
After a hearty breakfast, we’ll journey towards Queen Elizabeth National Park, a sanctuary teeming with diverse wildlife including elephants, lions, hippos, buffalo, and baboons. Embark on exhilarating game drives in the afternoon and the following day, keeping an eye out for the elusive tree-climbing lions and vast elephant herds. Our accommodation for the night will be at the Kazinga View Resort, offering budget-friendly lodgings just outside the park.
Day 5: Morning Game Drive and Boat Cruise
Rise early for a thrilling morning game drive in the Ishasha Sector, renowned for its tree-climbing lions. Later, we’ll transfer to Mweya Peninsula for a leisurely boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel. Marvel at the diverse wildlife congregating along the shores, from elephants bathing to myriad bird species soaring overhead. With knowledgeable guides onboard, you’ll gain insights into the park’s ecosystem and wildlife behavior. Tonight, we’ll return to Kazinga Channel View Resort for a well-deserved rest.
Day 6: Chimpanzee Tracking in Kyambura Gorge – Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park
Embark on an early morning adventure to track chimpanzees in the dramatic Kyambura Gorge, a haven for diverse primate species including red-tailed monkeys and black-and-white colobus. Immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of this unique ecosystem before transferring to Lake Mburo National Park. Here, you’ll enjoy a peaceful horse safari, providing a unique perspective on the park’s wildlife. Spend the night at Leopard Rest Camp, surrounded by the tranquility of the wilderness.
Day 7: Horse Safari in Lake Mburo National Park – Departure
Start your day with an enchanting horse safari through the scenic landscapes of Lake Mburo National Park. Delight in the serene ambiance as you encounter a variety of wildlife, from graceful zebras to elusive leopards.
