On the first day, guests will arrive in Bujumbura, the capital city of Burundi. Since travelers are coming from various countries, the group will meet at a local hotel. Iconic Africa Safaris will handle the hotel booking to ensure a smooth check-in process. After settling in, there will be time to relax while waiting for everyone to arrive. The evening will include a special dinner hosted by the founder and owner of Migoti Coffee. The dinner will take place at a local restaurant, where guests will enjoy authentic Burundian cuisine.
After breakfast, the group will travel to the Migoti Washing Station, located about 2-3 hours from Bujumbura. On the way, there will be a stop for lunch and refreshments. Once at the washing station, the group will receive a tour from the station manager. Guests will also meet the workers responsible for processing coffee cherries. This gives a great chance to learn about the process from the people directly involved. The day will end with a visit to the washing station in the evening to see local farmers delivering their coffee cherries for milling. Dinner will be served at a local restaurant that focuses on using locally sourced produce. Accommodation for the night will be at a nearby hotel with basic amenities.
Day three will begin with breakfast at the hotel. Afterward, the group will visit local farmers who are part of the coffee supply chain. These farmers play a crucial role in growing and nurturing coffee trees. Guests will learn how farmers maintain the trees and handle the coffee cherries. Throughout the day, there will be breaks for lunch and refreshments at different locations. The group will return to a local restaurant near Migoti Coffee for dinner. The final day will begin with a return journey from the washing station to Bujumbura. In the afternoon, the group will visit a local game reserve or wildlife park.
