Your Express Primates Adventure in Uganda begins in Kigali, where your guide will pick you up from your hotel. After meeting your guide, you’ll start the scenic drive to Kibale Forest National Park in Uganda. Along the way, you will cross the Katuna border, entering Uganda’s beautiful countryside.
The drive is enjoyable, with views of hills, forests, and local villages. You’ll see rural life and experience Uganda’s welcoming atmosphere. Kibale Forest National Park is famous for its large chimpanzee population and dense rainforest.
Upon arrival at Kibale, you’ll check in at Chimpanzee Forest Lodge. This lodge provides comfort in a natural setting, perfect for relaxing after your journey. You’ll enjoy a warm dinner and prepare for the exciting chimpanzee experience awaiting you the next day.
Your second day starts early with a thrilling primate adventure. You can choose between chimpanzee tracking or the habituation experience.
Chimpanzee tracking involves a guided forest walk to find the chimps in their natural home. You’ll watch them play, feed, and interact with one another. The habituation experience, on the other hand, allows you to spend more time with the chimpanzees. During this activity, you join researchers as they work to get the chimps used to human presence. This option gives deeper insights into their behavior and daily lives.
After this memorable activity, you will leave Kibale and travel to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. The drive takes you through rolling hills, tea plantations, and scenic valleys. Though it is a long drive, the stunning views make it enjoyable.
In the evening, you’ll arrive at Rushaga Gorilla Havens Lodge. This lodge offers cozy accommodations, delicious meals, and a peaceful environment. Relax and prepare for your gorilla trekking adventure the following day.
The third day is the highlight of your safari. After breakfast, you’ll head into Bwindi Impenetrable Forest for gorilla tracking or the habituation experience.
Gorilla tracking involves hiking with a guide through dense forest to find a gorilla family. Once you locate them, you’ll spend one magical hour observing their behavior. You’ll watch them feed, play, and care for their young. The habituation experience allows you to spend more time with the gorillas. You’ll also join researchers as they work to make gorillas comfortable around people.
Bwindi is home to half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. These activities not only provide unforgettable experiences but also support conservation efforts.
After your trek, return to Rushaga Gorilla Havens Lodge. Here, you can relax and enjoy a hearty dinner. The serene environment is perfect for reflecting on the day’s adventure.
On the last day of your safari, you will leave Bwindi and drive back to Kigali. The return journey offers more stunning views of Uganda’s landscapes, including green hills and charming villages.
You’ll cross back into Rwanda via the Katuna border. Once in Kigali, your guide will drop you off at your hotel or any preferred location.
